In December 2022, I received my Dutch University Teaching Qualification (Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs) from Maastricht University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering. The program, implemented by Dutch universities in 2017, offers didactic training to teachers in higher education institutions in the Netherlands. The University Teaching Qualification is recognised by all universities in the country and ensures that lecturers possess the competencies, skills, and knowledge required to teach at an academic level. I completed the programme over three years and participated in workshops focusing on building a curriculum, assessment methods, group dynamics, teaching delivery, among others. For the final assessment, I wrote an extensive portfolio describing my teaching experiences and how I implemented the knowledge I gained during the workshop.
