In May 2024, I participated in the second edition of the Food Law Academics’ Network conference in Bari, Italy. With sustainable agrifood chains as its central theme, the conference brought together legal scholars who work on the various aspects of food and agricultural supply chains. I had the opportunity to present my work on corporate accountability for food waste in the retail sector. My presentation was titled ‘They can’t keep getting away with it! A proposal for moving from voluntary commitments to due diligence-based accountability for food waste reduction in the retail sector’ and was well received by the audience. I presented also on the behalf of my collaborators Dr Nadia Bernaz and Dr Alie de Boer.
